What is Botulinum toxin?

Botulinum toxin is a byproduct of the Clostridium botulinum bacteria. When injected into a facial muscle, it stops the nerve signals that tell your muscles to contract. By temporarily weakening your facial muscles, wrinkles are smoothed or eliminated for months.

We regularly use two wrinkle-relaxing products that deliver outstanding results:

• Restylane (a dermal filler)
• Azzalure (botulinum toxin)

Azzalure, a botulinum toxin type A (commonly referred to as botox), is specifically designed for use in aesthetic indications.

What is the treatment process like?

When you arrive at our office for your treatment, your dentist will examine your facial muscles to see how they work and determine the best way to proceed. Although Botox injections are painless, you may opt to have a numbing cream applied to the injection sites prior to treatment.

To treat frown lines, Botox is injected above and between your brows. The session will last approximately 15 minutes, and you can immediately resume your daily activities afterward. You may experience some mild swelling or redness after each treatment, but these symptoms disappear rapidly.
